This lineage is mostly based on Janet Ireland Delorey, The English Origin and Descendants to the Fourth Generation of Edward Wood of Charlestown, Massachusetts, Genealogist 9 (1988): 90-159. That essay, however, ends with Josiah Wood and Hannah Killam (gen. 5). Descriptions of the birth and baptism records for their twin children, Joseph and Lois, as well as the first complete account of Joseph’s family, are found in Austin W. Spencer, Joseph and Mary (Whitcomb) Wood of Tolland, Connecticut, and Dalton, Massachusetts, New England Historical and Genealogical Register 166 (2012): 109-18. Lois’s connection with the Rice family was first documented by Vital Records of Westborough, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849 (Worcester, Mass.: Franklin P. Rice, 1903), 223, where her marriage intention shows that she was of Sumers.
