The most authoritative summary of this family is Jonathan Pearson, Contributions for the Genealogies of the First Settlers of the Ancient County of Albany, from 1630 to 1800 (1872; reprint, Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Company, 1984), 44-5, even though it mainly consists of extracts from the baptism and marriage register of the First Reformed Church in Albany. No connection between this Jan Duret and the one who died in May 1699 is known.
