A documented biography of Robert, with a summary of records relating to his family (including Rebecca’s parentage), is in Alicia Crane Williams, Early New England Families, 1641–1700, 2 vols. to date (Boston: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2015–9), 2:374-9. The key reference for Rebecca’s parentage is the diary of Samuel Sewall for 29 January 1697/8, where he wrote, Joseph Perce and the widow Windsor, Capt Scottos sister, lye dead. Days earlier, Sewall had served as one of the pallbearers at Capt. Joshua Scottow’s funeral: M.
