Alfred Le Roy Becker, The Life and Family of Simeon Le Roy, New York Genealogical and Biographical Record 64 (1933): 41-5, at 42, has limited information about the background of Claude d’Eschalets, an orphan girl who became one of the filles du roi: women sent to New France to form families and thereby increase the colonial population.
